Renaissance Services extended strong support to the Fifth Annual Festival for People with Disabilities, held recently at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the week-long festival, held from November 30 to December 4, 2024, saw over 1,100 participants engaging in various activities.
This initiative underscores Renaissance Services' commitment to supporting inclusion and empowerment within the community. The festival provides a way to integrate individuals with different abilities into mainstream society, enables access to sports and cultural opportunities, and raises public awareness about the challenges they face.
A key feature of the event was the Festival Village, which showcased cultural, health and informational exhibits, including a unique display that simulated the daily challenges experienced by people with disabilities. In addition to the exhibitions, the festival included a wide variety of sports tailored to different disabilities, such as athletics, wheelchair basketball, badminton, goalball, football for the hearing impaired, boccia, bowling and traditional games.
Stephen R Thomas, CEO, Renaissance Services said, “We are delighted to support the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in organising this impactful platform, which aims to promote a more inclusive society for all.”
